Direct Piezoelectric Actuators - DPA

Direct Piezoelectric Actuators with serial prestress mechanism, or DPA, are probably the most common of piezoelectric actuators. They are easily identified by their cylindrical shape. Stiff springs (Belleville springs, in most cases) are placed in series with the piezoelectric multilayer element. The cylindrical case maintains the assembly together and protects the piezoelectric ceramic.
